PERKESO LINDUNG 24 JAM (SKBBK): What Every Malaysian Business Owner Needs to Know

The Social Security Organisation (PERKESO/SOCSO) has introduced LINDUNG 24 JAM (Skim Kemalangan Bukan Bencana Kerja – SKBBK), extending protection for eligible employees against non-work-related accidental injuries. The scheme takes effect on 1 June 2026.

What is PERKESO LINDUNG 24 JAM?
Traditionally, PERKESO only covered work-related accidents. LINDUNG 24 JAM provides eligible employees with 24-hour protection for accidental injuries occurring outside working hours.

• Personal road traffic accidents
• Falls while shopping
• Sports and recreational accidents
• Accidents during annual leave
• Other accidental injuries outside working hours

Benefits
• Medical Treatment Benefit
• Temporary Disablement Benefit
• Permanent Disablement Benefit
• Dependants’ Benefit
• Rehabilitation Services
• Constant Attendance Allowance
• Funeral Benefit

Exclusions
• Illnesses such as cancer, stroke, diabetes and heart disease
• Work-related accidents
• Accidents outside Malaysia
• Fraudulent or excluded claims

Who is Covered?
Full-time employees, eligible part-time employees under a Contract of Service, and eligible employees aged 60 and above.

Employee Contribution
Phase 1 (First 2 Years): 0.75%
Phase 2 (Next 3 Years): 1.00%
Phase 3 (Year 6 onwards): 1.25%

The contribution is fully borne by the employee through payroll deduction.

Employer Responsibilities
Update payroll systems, communicate the changes to employees, ensure accurate deductions and remit contributions to PERKESO on time.
